Change

Wednesday, December 31, 2014

Today's thought:  Change

Since the Universe began, there has been movement and change.  The only constant is change.  We can take advantage of change by looking for the positives in it.  What can we learn?  What possibilities are there now that were not there before?  What can we do to make our lives and the lives of others more meaningful, more beautiful?

As the calendar year changes from 2014 to 2015, let us look forward with calm and courage to the New Year and all that it will bring to us, and be grateful for all the blessings of the past year.

May the coming year bring you all the dreams of your heart.....and peace, joy, and love, always.

Challenges

Tuesday, December 30, 2014

Today's thought:  Challenges

There is a school of thought that believes the challenges in our lives come to us from God, to learn from them and overcome them. There is a  school of thought that believes the challenges in our lives are the end result, and the only possible result, of all our choices.

When challenges come into our lives, regardless of which school of thought we believe in, let us view those challenges objectively and dispassionately, that we may see the exact nature of the challenge and clearly see the solution.  All answers lie in the quiet center of our minds and hearts.  Be still.  God does not shout over the noise of the world.  God whispers to us in the silence.

Wishing you the blessing of overcoming all challenges in your lives, whether great or small....and peace, joy, and love, always.

Feeding the soul.

Monday, December 29, 2014

Today's thought:  Feeding the soul.

As important as it is to feed the body for physical life, it is equally or even more important to feed the soul for spiritual life.

Meditation, prayer, and  quiet time reflecting on God feeds the soul.

Kind words and actions feed the soul of both the giver and the receiver.

Gratitude for all the blessings poured down upon us feeds the soul.

  Beauty feeds the soul.

  Laughter feeds the soul.

Find time, make time each day to tend to the feeding of your soul.  Quiet moments throughout the day calm us, bless us, and feed our souls.

Wishing you the blessing of a rich and beautiful spiritual life and a soul well fed.

Peace, joy, and love, always.

Respect all things.

Sunday, December 28, 2014

Today's thought:  Respect all things.

Everything we see, including ourselves, was first a thought in the mind of God.  Everything, everyone is connected to God and worthy of respect.  Care for your material things, either earned by you or received as gifts.  Care for yourselves and others as children of God.  Respect the work that you do and those who work with you.  Respect the earth you walk upon, it gives you life in the form of food and water; it gives you beauty with its flowers, trees, mountains and plains.  In this physical life where we are all connected through our connection to God, respect all things, including yourselves and the work you came here to do.

Wishing you the blessing of respecting yourselves and living accordingly.....and peace, joy, and love, always.

Pollution of the mind.

Saturday, December 27, 2014

Today's thought:  Pollution of the mind.

We pollute our minds whenever we use crude and vulgar language and manners, whenever we gossip, whenever we read books with uncivilized language and vulgar behavior, watch programs or movies whose stories revolve around violence.

So many are concerned with pollution of the air and the water, and rightly so.  Both of those things are absolutely essential to life, our health, and the health of the planet.  But, polluted minds destroy rather than build; lower us down to the gutter rather than elevate us; and out of polluted minds will come no love, forgiveness, or compassion; no encouragement to live better lives; no solutions to problems; no cures for disease; and no art that feeds the soul.

We need to be careful and watchful of what we feed our minds, for it is in our minds that we live, and all that we share with others is first conceived in our minds.

Wishing you the blessing of mindfulness.....and peace, joy, and love, always.

Do something.

Friday, December 26, 2014

Today's thought:  Do something.

Everything over zero is a plus.  At different times in our lives, we are capable of different things.  Sometimes it seems we can do anything, and sometimes it seems everything is an effort.  But, regardless of what we are feeling at the time, let us do something.

If you cannot sit quietly for 15 minutes to meditate, sit 5 minutes.  If you cannot clean the whole house, clean one room.  If you cannot save dollars, save dimes.  It was St. Francis of Assisi who said, "Start by doing what is necessary; then do the possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible."

Do something.  Anything over zero is a plus.

Wishing you the blessings of energy and motivation to do all that is yours to do.....and peace, joy, and love, always.

A Christmas Blessing

Thursday, December 25, 2014

Today's thought:  A Christmas Blessing

From the beautiful writings of James Dillet Freeman:

"May there always be room in your heart for divinity to find a birthing place.

May you be holy as the angels were, faithful as the shepherds were, humble as the cattle were, wise as the Wise Men were.

May you have the compassion Mary had and the understanding Joseph had, and may the blessing of the Christ Child be yours, not because of his birth-night long ago, but because his love is born in you today!"

Wishing you all of these blessings, and more.  Peace.  Joy.  Love, always.
