Today's thought:  Affirmations

Affirmations are positive statements of faith and prayer.

To think positively is not to ignore what we think or feel to be sad, bad, or horrific; it is to surround what is happening with faith and prayer for the best possible outcome.  Many things that happen on the planet are beyond our control, but not beyond our prayer.  When we are able to remain calm, we are able to think more clearly what needs to be done, and how we are able to help.  If someone you know is ill, rather than worry about the worst that can happen, you may want to say the affirmation:  "Thank You, God, that you hold (name) safely in the palm of Your hand."

If you are feeling frightened or alone:  "I am a child of God.  God loves me.  All is well, and I am safe."

Think of affirmations that apply to you and your life.  Repeat them to yourself until you are calm and peaceful.  Everything we think, feel, and do begins in our minds.  Positive affirmations have a calming effect on the mind and body.
